MISSION STATEMENT

The Northwestern District is committed to providing safe, quality learning environments which will equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills and values to enable them to become productive Bahamian citizens.

The Northwestern District is recognized as the district where best practices are emphasized in a constituency of parents, community leaders and educators who collaborate to improve student achievement.

GOALS 2002 - 2003

  1. To improve the students' performance in Language, Mathematics and Science by at least five percent in the C and above category in district and national examinations.
  2. To implement more effective scheduling for improved learning outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy at grade one level.
  3. To maintain intervention measures for students at-risk through the Mathematics and Reading Recovery Programmes, Study Hall and Reading Lab.
  4. To increase emphasis on Character Education, Civics and Technology at all levels district-wide.
  5. To enhance professional practice and teaching strategies through participation in site-based, district-wide, national and international seminars, workshops and conferences.
  6. To implement the all boys classes in primary schools and special clubs with a focus on males in the high schools.
  7. To further improve the home/school, community partnership through school and district based activities
  8. To promote and maintain quality learning environments and continue to improve the culture and climate of district schools.
