Requirements for teaching in the Public Schools of The Bahamas:

  • Teacher’s Certificate or Diploma in Education from an accredited institution and

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject area(s) from an accredited institution and Teacher’s Certificate or Diploma in Education
    or

  • Master’s Degree in the relevant subject area(s) from an accredited institution and Teacher’s Certificate or Diploma in Education

The salary range of the post is $18,900 X 700 - $34,300 Bahamian Dollars per annum in the scale of S12. Entry to the salary scale will be determined by qualifications and experience:-

Remuneration for post-qualification teaching experience will be a maximum of ten years at the following rates:

- $350 per annum for every two years of experience acquired prior to 2000

- $750 per annum for every two years of experience acquired after 2000

Successful applicants will offered two (2) or three (3)-year contracts and will receive a 15% gratuity upon satisfactory completion of the terms of the contracts.

    • Medical and police certificates
    • Two (2) references
    • Passport
    • Documentary proof of relevant teaching experience
